Forestry violators face fines and criminal penalties

People required to register under Arkansas forestry law can face civil penalties up to $5,000 from the Arkansas Forestry Commission. Violations include practicing or offering forestry services without valid registration, or falsely claiming or implying certification. They also include using someone else’s certificate as their own, or using an expired or revoked certificate. Giving false or forged evidence to the Department of Agriculture or the commission also qualifies, as does violating any forestry chapter rule. In addition to civil penalties, a person convicted of a listed violation is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor. The commission can adopt rules creating a penalty chart for these offenses; the law sets no deadline for those rules.
