Arkansas ends alternative fuel rebates

The law ends Arkansas's alternative motor fuel rebate program and its dedicated state fund. Natural gas and propane fueling stations previously qualified for rebates covering up to 75% of costs, capped at $400,000. Electric vehicle charging rebates covered up to 50% of equipment and installation costs: $900 for private stations and $5,000 for public stations. Qualifying nonelectric alternative-fuel vehicles previously received up to 50% of costs, capped at $4,500 per vehicle. Qualifying electricity-powered property had a $2,500 rebate cap. The repeal also removes the program's eligibility rules, safety and siting conditions, and authority to increase rebates using settlement money. It ends the fund's authority to support these incentives and carry unused money into the next fiscal year. The law provides no replacement program or transition rules, and the text specifies no effective date.
