Arkansas changes when county clerks certify school board candidates to the county board of election commissioners. The clerk responsible is in the county where the school district has its administrative home. In even-numbered years, school elections held with a preferential primary use the certification deadlines in § 7-7-304(b). School elections held with a general election in those years use the deadlines in § 7-5-203(b). These replace certification the day after the petition filing deadline. Candidates still must qualify by petition and be registered voters in the school district and applicable electoral zone.
