Beginning July 1, 2025, the law provides up to $35 million for Arkansas School for the Deaf facility projects. The money comes from the Development and Enhancement Fund through the Arkansas Department of Education. It covers maintenance, renovation, equipment, construction, acquisition, improvements, upgrades, and repairs to property and facilities the school owns or operates. Grants, donations, federal funds, and available unused funds can supplement the state money. Contracts and other commitments cannot exceed State Treasury funds actually available for these projects. Regular maintenance and operating appropriations cannot pay for this work. Spending must follow applicable purchasing, accounting, budgeting, and revenue rules unless another law provides otherwise. It must also match the purposes and budget justifications supporting the appropriation. This funding supports school facilities, not direct payments to households.
