Higher lab payment caps for Arkansas Medicaid

Beginning July 1, 2025, Arkansas Medicaid sets its yearly payment cap for diagnostic lab services at least $500 per person. The cap is at least $1,800 for people diagnosed with chronic pain or receiving pain management treatment. These lab caps exclude radiology, which keeps a separate yearly cap of at least $500. The Department of Human Services must issue rules to carry out the law. It must submit proposed rules early enough for Legislative Council review and approval before January 1, 2026. Final rules must be filed with the Secretary of State by January 1, 2026. If approval is delayed beyond that date, filing is required as soon as practicable after approval. The department can seek federal waivers, Medicaid plan changes, or other federal approval as needed.
