The law creates Arkansas’s Missing Endangered Child Advisory System to help searches for missing children under 18. It applies only when the disappearance does not qualify for an Arkansas Amber Alert. At least one of four conditions must apply: an unexplained, involuntary, or suspicious disappearance; suspected but unconfirmed abduction; a diagnosed developmental disability, pervasive developmental disorder, or physical, mental, or cognitive impairment; or another danger. Other dangers include the child’s age, health, weather, being with a potentially dangerous person, or another circumstance. Arkansas State Police operates the system, sets activation procedures, and must coordinate with local police to ensure effective use.
