Election commissioners get timely oath notices

Arkansas county clerks must send each selected election commissioner a written oath notice within 30 days after selection. This duty applies once the clerk receives notice of the selection. The notice tells commissioners they must take and sign the oath required by the Arkansas Constitution. Registered mail is no longer required.

Party officials get updated candidate-list notices

At least 100 days before a general election, Arkansas county clerks must notify county political party chairs and secretaries. The notice tells them when certified candidate lists for county, township, and municipal offices are due. These lists must be filed with the clerk so candidates' names can appear on the ballot. Certified mail with restricted delivery replaces registered mail. Email is allowed if county party chairs agree in writing, and the email must request a read receipt.
