The law provides $425,000 through the Auditor of State for local officials’ continuing education, from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. County clerks and circuit clerks each get $75,000 for education and certification, overseen by their respective continuing education boards. Both allocations come from the County and Circuit Clerks Continuing Education Fund. County treasurers get $75,000 for continuing education through their board, from the County Treasurer’s Continuing Education Fund. County collectors get $75,000 for education and certification through their board, from the County Collector’s Continuing Education Trust Fund. County coroners get $125,000 for education and certification from the County Coroners Continuing Education Fund. The Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training administers the coroner program. Spending must follow these purposes and state purchasing, accounting, budgeting, revenue, and salary laws, plus related finance department rules. Spending must also match the purposes reflected in budget manuals, agency requests, and executive and legislative recommendations. This funds official training, not direct household payments, and creates no new taxes or fees.
