Arkansas’s Department of Finance and Administration must send notices at least 120 days before covered local sales and use taxes expire. Notices go to county quorum courts, city governing bodies, or other entities that levy the covered taxes. Each notice must state the current expiration date and the legal requirements for extending the tax. Covered taxes fund county and city capital improvements, community college capital improvements, and local economic development projects. The law does not itself extend taxes, change tax rates, or require households to take action.
