The law funds the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. It provides $1.706 billion in cash funds for payments by check or wire: $1.7 billion for benefits and $6 million for refunds and reimbursements. A separate Teacher Retirement Fund budget provides about $218.17 million for payments and system costs. That includes $180 million for benefits, $15 million for refunds and reimbursements, and $9 million for the discount buyout plan. The system can employ up to 87 regular workers and 20 temporary or part-time workers. Temporary and part-time pay cannot exceed the applicable job rates under state pay law or this act. Spending must stay within approved amounts and available funds, follow state purchasing and budget laws, and match approved budget purposes. This funding does not change individual benefit amounts or eligibility.
