Veterinary staff can provide off-site emergency care
Arkansas law allows veterinary technicians, technologists, and veterinary technician specialists to provide services in response to animal emergency calls. The supervising veterinarian can authorize them to work at a different location from the veterinarian. This applies when the veterinarian uses indirect supervision. The veterinarian must keep control and authority over the animal’s care. The veterinarian must also review all chart records and notes written by these staff about the animal’s care.
