The Governor can employ one lead legislative liaison and nine other liaisons without salary. Beginning January 13, 2025, the lead can receive up to $250 daily; each other liaison can receive up to $200. These daily payments cover only days when the Arkansas General Assembly is in Regular Session. Payments require the Governor’s approval and use funds authorized by this law. The Department of Transformation and Shared Services processes payments.
The law sets aside $226,250 from Arkansas’s Constitutional Officers Fund for the Governor’s Office legislative liaison program. The money covers operating costs for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. Spending cannot exceed this amount or funds made available by law. Spending must follow state purchasing, budget, and fiscal control rules and serve the purposes documented in official budget records.
