Beginning January 1, 2028, Arkansas bans potassium bromate and propylparaben in food for people. The ban covers anyone making, selling, delivering, distributing, holding, or offering these foods for sale in commerce within Arkansas. This adds consumer protections and places new limits on food businesses. Civil penalties can reach $5,000 for a first violation and $10,000 for each later violation. The Arkansas Attorney General, city attorneys, county attorneys, and prosecuting attorneys can bring enforcement actions.
