Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Lower beer minimum for microbreweries

After its first year, an Arizona microbrewery must produce at least 1,000 gallons of beer each calendar year. The old minimum was 5,000 gallons, so the law lowers the production requirement by 4,000 gallons.

More festival options for craft producers

Licensed craft producers can get festival licenses for up to 150 calendar days per producer. They can offer samples and sell products to drink at the event or take away in original containers. Fair licenses cover sanctioned state and county fairs, with permission from fair organizers. Local approval is required for festival events outside fully licensed premises, and the director may set a fee for each event day. Producers’ representatives can taste small amounts of their own products for quality checks, and these festival and fair licenses are exempt from the 300-foot school-distance limit.

More routes for temporary event licenses

An Arizona Board of Regents university president can approve a temporary event license for an event on university property outside fully licensed premises. A special event license can also be issued alongside a craft producer festival license. Together, the licenses let purchasers possess liquor they bought at the event, despite specified restrictions in state law.
