Changing fees for court services

County boards can set a fee of up to $10 for each justice court writ, up from the former $5 maximum. The county deposits the money in the constable ethics and training fund. Constable travel charges start from the justice of the peace's office in the precinct where service happens, not the office that began the case. In counties with more than 3 million people, a certified distance is subtracted when that office is outside the precinct, so mileage charges can go up or down depending on the locations.
