Arizona referral agencies must show they are not on the adult protective services registry, or annually verify they use an accredited provider for criminal history checks. The checks cover new employees who meet consumers or enter assisted living facilities or homes to make referrals. Agencies must also carry commercial general and professional liability insurance from an insurer authorized in Arizona, with at least $1 million per claim and $3 million total for each policy. These requirements add costs for agencies while adding safeguards for consumers.
