Arizona creates addiction treatment study committee

The law creates a temporary Arizona committee of public officials, treatment experts, advocates, and people with recovery experience. It studies treatment availability, access gaps, costs, staffing, and funding needs across licensed and unlicensed programs. It reviews oversight gaps that allow unsafe care, fraud, waste, and abuse. Its duties include setting minimum care standards, staff expectations, safety and outcome reporting requirements, and public information tools. The committee must report findings, recommended legal changes, funding needs, and implementation timelines by December 31, 2027. Members receive no pay but can get expense reimbursement under Arizona law. The committee section is repealed after June 30, 2028. The law does not directly change household benefits, treatment costs, or access.
