One-year delay on delinquent tax installments in disasters

Your county tax collector can let you delay a delinquent property tax installment for one year after a disaster. This applies only if the Governor declared your county a disaster area and the county is eligible for state property tax disaster relief. You must already have an installment plan, or have applied for one when you ask. You must show the tax collector that your property had substantial disaster damage, file by September 1 of the following fiscal year, and not be getting other relief for the same disaster. The county can charge interest during the delay, and you must pay that interest when you pay the deferred installment.
