Counties can pay jailed workers

The law lets county boards of supervisors give money to people in county jails who do work assignments. You must be in a county jail and complete a work assignment to get paid. The county board decides how much to credit. The law sets no statewide rate, minimum, maximum, time unit, or payment schedule. Counties choose whether to offer this pay and how much.
