The Antelope Valley air district can pay board members up to $200 per day for meetings or official business, capped at $7,200 per year. The board must vote on pay at an open regular meeting, and no automatic raises are allowed. Raises are limited to the greater of 5% per year since the last change or, starting January 1, 2026, the local CPI change up to 10% per year. Members also get repayment of actual and necessary expenses, unless another entity already pays the same costs. No pay is allowed if another entity already pays for the same activity. If the board starts paying, it must report to the Legislature within three years on who serves and member engagement.
