Design-build allowed for district hospital projects

Health care districts can use design-build to award contracts for building a hospital or a health facility building, or work tied to that build. The district’s board must approve using design-build, and this applies even if other law requires a different bidding method. For this process, “local agency” means a health care district that owns or runs a hospital or clinic and its board. Any hospital building that uses design-build must be reviewed and inspected under the Alfred E. Alquist Hospital Facilities Seismic Safety Act of 1983.
