The law requires the California Interagency Council on Homelessness to work with LGBTQ+ housing providers, advocates, and researchers. The council develops recommendations to make services inclusive and culturally competent, add staff training and resources, and expand data collection. It also sets steps to prevent discrimination, harassment, and violence in state homelessness programs. “State homelessness programs” are programs the state funds, in whole or in part, to address or prevent homelessness or to serve people who are homeless. The council must send its recommendations to the Assembly and Senate housing committees by July 1, 2027. The law does not add new funding.
