Cash death benefit for incarcerated firefighters

The law creates a death benefit for incarcerated Conservation Camp hand crew members. If a crew member dies from their duties on active deployment, during training, or while incapacitated from those duties, CDCR pays the named beneficiary. The payment is $50,000 plus 50% of the pay earned in the 12 months before death. CDCR must pay within 60 days of the death.
