Peace officers can remove small electric vehicles with fewer than four wheels that are not e-bikes, can go over 20 miles per hour on motor power alone, when the driver is unlicensed. They can also remove class 3 electric bikes ridden in violation of state rules. For a removed class 3 e-bike, the agency may require proof the rider finished an approved e-bike safety course before release.
A city or county can charge you its actual costs to remove, seize, and store your vehicle, if adopted at a public meeting and posted online. An agency must release a seized vehicle after at least 48 hours when you ask during normal business hours and pay all removal, seizure, and storage costs.
