Permanent conservation camp program for incarcerated youth

The law makes the Youth Offender Program Camp permanent in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. If you are incarcerated, age 18 to 25, and have a Level III classification score or a Violent Administrative Determinant, you can be considered to join a conservation camp. The Secretary decides participation case by case. The program began in August 2023 at Growlersburg Camp #33 and expanded in August 2024 to Pine Grove Camp #12. The Secretary can expand it to some or all California Conservation Camps. The law does not add new funding.
