Beginning January 1, 2026, meningitis is presumed job-related for these facility firefighters. It covers full-time active firefighters who serve DoD bases (DoD-certified), NASA sites (meet state Article 4 training), and FAA Part 139 airports (State Fire Marshal certified to Fire Control 5 and 14 C.F.R. 139.319). You get full workers’ compensation benefits: medical care, disability pay, and death benefits. After you leave, the presumption lasts three months for each full year you served, up to 60 months.
