Easier repairs on county buildings in big counties

The law exempts some county building repair or alteration work from certain contracting rules (Sections 20121 and 20122). In counties with 2,000,000 or more people, work under $50,000 on county‑owned buildings is exempt. In counties with 9,000,000 or more people, the exemption rises to work under $125,000. The $125,000 exemption does not apply if the amount described in Section 22032(a) is $125,000 or more. Population is based on the last federal or special census or a state‑validated estimate. This speeds small and mid‑size repair jobs for counties and contractors.
