The law requires the California Department of Education to tell all districts, county offices, and charter schools that teach grades 7–12 that Holocaust and genocide lessons are part of state standards. The Superintendent runs a grant program that sends money to local educational agencies for materials, school events, teacher training and substitutes, staff planning time, and student transportation tied to Holocaust and genocide education.
