The law requires the California Department of Education to tell all districts, county offices, and charter schools that teach grades 7–12 that Holocaust and genocide lessons are part of state standards. The notice must share teaching resources and the department may survey schools once within two years to check progress. The Superintendent runs a grant program that sends money to local educational agencies for materials, school events, teacher training and substitutes, staff planning time, and student transportation tied to Holocaust and genocide education. The Superintendent sets application and reporting rules. A state fund holds the money, and grants are available only when the Legislature approves funding.
