The law requires every city, county, and city-county, or a delegated office such as a city clerk or county administrator, to send an updated list of local elected and appointed officials to the Secretary of State. They must send it by electronic means within 120 days after each general election. The Secretary of State publishes these lists in the statewide roster of public officials. If the Commission on State Mandates finds state-mandated costs, the state reimburses local agencies and school districts under existing procedures.
