Streaming ads cannot be louder

Beginning July 1, 2026, streaming services that serve Californians must keep ad audio no louder than the show. The rule follows FCC CALM Act standards. It covers services that send video to you over the internet. It does not cover broadcast TV, cable, or ad-free services. This helps stop sudden loud ads.

No private lawsuits over loud ads

This chapter does not create a private right to sue. You cannot bring a civil lawsuit under these streaming ad rules. Other laws that already allow suits still apply.
