Clearer storage unit rental terms

Beginning January 1, 2026, new self-service storage rental agreements must show key notices on the first page. The contract must state the initial term and how renewals work. It must say if you got a promo or discount and how long it lasts. It must say if rent can change and the highest rent allowed in the first 12 months. It must list every step to end the contract and avoid future fees, including removing all your property. It must include the owner’s contact info. These notices must be in bigger type and either in contrasting text or set off by symbols so they stand out.
