Longer job-growth tax credits for Colorado employers

Colorado extends new Job Growth Incentive Tax Credit awards through tax year 2034, replacing the January 1, 2027 cutoff. The Economic Development Commission still decides awards and amounts; existing eligibility rules and credit periods remain unchanged. Lawmakers and the State Auditor must measure new jobs created and the annual value of credits allowed and made available. The Commission must report credit recipients and disallowed credits electronically to the Department of Revenue each September 1, covering the preceding year. The program’s governing law is scheduled for repeal on July 1, 2059, separate from the deadline for new awards. The act takes effect 90 days after the 2026 session ends, expected August 12, 2026. A timely referendum petition delays that date until voters approve the act and the governor officially declares the result.
