Animal education shows need accredited leaders

Beginning August 12, 2026, environmental education animal programs must be led by a professional. A professional is an individual or organization accredited by at least one group: the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, or the American Sanctuary Association. This limits who can run these animal exhibitions and may add costs to get or keep accreditation. If voters refer the law to the November 2026 ballot, it starts only after the governor certifies the vote.
