Homelessness prevention funds go to direct help
Beginning 2026-08-12, the Homeless Prevention Activities Program sends state-collected funds to nongovernmental agencies, directly or through local governments. Those dollars must pay for direct client services and assistance. A new advisory committee, picked by the executive director, directs the Division to set and enforce program standards. The committee has at least three members: one from Human Services and two from the public; members are unpaid. The Division in the Department of Local Affairs runs the program under the committee’s direction.
