Marketplaces must report stolen goods to police

Online marketplaces that host third-party sellers must alert law enforcement. They must alert when they know or should know a seller is offering stolen goods to a Colorado buyer. No alert is needed if police already notified the marketplace about that seller and those same stolen goods. Marketplaces must set up a clear way to make these reports.

When these marketplace rules start

The law takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on the day after the 90-day period following the legislature’s final adjournment. If a referendum petition is filed in that 90-day window, the challenged part does not take effect. It takes effect only if voters approve it at the November 2026 general election. If approved, it takes effect on the date the governor officially declares the vote. If adjournment is May 13, 2026, the target start date is August 12, 2026.
