Court fee relief for juveniles and families

Colorado courts cannot charge eligible juveniles or their parents, guardians, or legal custodians covered court costs, fines, and surcharges. This protection covers people who were under 18 when the offense occurred and under 21 at sentencing. Covered fees include time-payment fees, public service fees up to $120, and the $25 court-appointed lawyer processing fee. Courts and the State cannot collect covered unpaid charges assessed on or after July 6, 2021. Some collection bans also cover charges already outstanding on that date.
