Colorado ends local school accountability and grants

Beginning July 1, 2026, Colorado ends its local school accountability system and grant program. The school accountability task force also loses authority to review that system and program. Its membership drops from 26 to 25. The Senate minority leader must appoint one teacher from a rural school district. The required seat for a rural superintendent participating in the grant program is removed. The law does not specify grant amounts or provide direct household payments.
