Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

More time to spend Colorado accelerator grants

Colorado’s education department can spend 2023–24 Academic Accelerator Grant Program funds continuously through the 2026–27 budget year. Any money left at that year’s end returns to the state General Fund. This gives the department more time to use existing funds, but adds no new money. The spending rule is repealed on December 31, 2027.

Less funding for Colorado academic accelerator grants

The law cuts Colorado Academic Accelerator Grant Program funding for state fiscal year 2023–24 from $24.5 million to $19.3 million. This leaves $5.2 million less available for program grants. The same cut lowers the education department’s total appropriation under the earlier act from $26.69453 million to $21.49453 million. These appropriations come from the state General Fund. The law takes effect immediately.
