More funding for Denver Health Medicaid care

Colorado can use hospital provider fee funds to increase Denver Health physician payments through a federally permitted, state-directed payment program. Qualifying services must be medically necessary, provided by a licensed physician or qualified medical professional, and billed separately from hospital fees. Spending requires federal matching funds and annual state budget approval. For 2026–27, the law sets aside about $3.53 million for the state health agency to fund Medicaid medical and long-term care. That funding depends on receiving the expected $7.80 million in federal funds.
