Analyzed Economic Effects

Colorado museum preservation gets yearly funding

Starting at the end of state fiscal year 2025-26, the state treasurer transfers $1 million yearly from the Limited Gaming Fund. The money goes to the Museum and Preservation Operations Account within the State Historical Fund. This adds to the account’s 49.9% share of limited gaming revenue received by the Colorado Historical Society each fiscal year. The General Assembly must approve spending from the account each year for its authorized purposes. The transfer does not create a direct household payment or benefit.

Colorado tourism fund gets less money

For state fiscal years 2012-13 through 2024-25, Colorado transfers $15 million yearly from the Limited Gaming Fund to its tourism promotion fund. Starting at the end of fiscal year 2025-26, that yearly transfer falls to $14 million. The Colorado Travel and Tourism Promotion Fund gets $1 million less each year. The total yearly transfer from the Limited Gaming Fund stays at $15 million, split between tourism and museum preservation.
