Colorado ends employment support for workers

Colorado ends its Employment Support and Job Retention Services Program on July 1, 2026, instead of September 1, 2029. People using the program lose access to its services; the law names no replacement. On June 30, 2026, the State Treasurer transfers all unspent, uncommitted program money to the state General Fund. For budget year 2026–27, the law cuts the General Fund payment into the program fund by $250,000. It also cuts the spending authorization from that fund for program services by $250,000. Neither cut is required if either funding amount is below $250,000, or the budget law funds neither the fund nor program. The act takes effect upon passage, but the cuts apply only if the 2026–27 annual budget act becomes law. The cuts take effect on the later of the two laws' effective dates.
