Colorado sex education loses guaranteed funding

Beginning July 1, 2026, Colorado ends the $1 million yearly funding guarantee for comprehensive sexuality education grants. The program remains, but funding depends on yearly state budgets. For budget year 2026-27, the law cuts $991,025 from the public health department's Prevention Services Division for comprehensive sex education. It also cuts staffing equal to 1.3 full-time positions. These cuts apply only if that year's budget becomes law and includes at least $991,025 in General Fund money for comprehensive sex education. They take effect July 1, 2026, or when that budget law takes effect, whichever is later.
