Motorcycle training gets funding with annual limits

Beginning July 1, 2026, Colorado lawmakers must approve spending from the motorcycle safety training fund each year. This replaces the State Patrol’s automatic access to the money. The law provides $1.11 million to the Department of Public Safety for State Patrol motorcycle training in budget year 2026–27. Fund money pays only for running and managing the motorcycle safety training program. Unspent money stays in the fund at year-end and cannot transfer to another fund.
