Colorado moves money into general budget

On June 30, 2026, Colorado transfers $72.8 million from the Unclaimed Property Trust Fund to its General Fund. This adds money to the state’s general budget while reducing money held in the trust fund. The transfer does not specify how that money is spent or provide a direct household payment. Beginning July 1, 2026, the trust fund’s principal generally remains reserved for paying unclaimed-property claims.

Colorado shifts Medicaid and dental funding

For budget year 2026-27, the law provides $63.491322 million from Colorado’s General Fund for its health care department. This includes $63.074986 million for Medicaid medical and long-term care services, plus money for department operations. It reduces matching Adult Dental Fund amounts; an amount too small to cover the required cuts falls to $0. These budget changes take effect only if the 2026-27 General Appropriation Act becomes law. Office reductions do not apply if that budget law omits the listed office funding. The Medicaid reduction likewise does not apply if that law omits the matching Medicaid funding. Beginning July 1, 2026, transfers from the Unclaimed Property Trust Fund to the Adult Dental Fund end. The legislature can still fund adult dental benefits through annual appropriations; this law does not end those benefits.

Housing grants get one final transfer

On June 30, 2026, Colorado transfers $2.2 million from the Unclaimed Property Trust Fund to the Housing Development Grant Fund. Beginning July 1, 2026, the law ends authority for future transfers between these funds. The June 30 transfer remains required. The law does not name the projects or households receiving help or specify replacement funding for future transfers.
