Data driven community corrections budget and reports

The law requires the Department of Public Safety to file a stand‑alone community corrections budget with the Joint Budget Committee each year. The request shows projected need by placement type and the factors that drive it. It explains any planned per‑diem rate changes and how the request matches need across judicial districts. It lists a by‑district allocation, including standard residential beds, nonresidential slots, specialized beds by type and funding source, fixed payments, and board funding. Beginning January 2027, the department also presents each January any differences between current offender distribution, program availability (beds and financial health), and projected need at its Smart Act hearing.
