New reporting procedures for Colorado livestock owners

Colorado’s State Board of Stock Inspection Commissioners and Division of Brand Inspection must receive reports of lost or stolen livestock. By December 31, 2026, the division must set procedures for working with law enforcement and notifying the public about reported livestock. Those procedures must require notifying relevant law enforcement within 24 hours of receiving a stolen-livestock report, when review raises suspected theft. Procedures may differ by region based on local needs.
