Colorado wildlife conservation gets $5 million

The law authorizes Colorado’s natural resources director to spend $5 million from the Species Conservation Trust Fund in state fiscal year 2026–27. It assigns $2.38 million to the Upper Colorado River endangered fish recovery program and San Juan River basin recovery implementation program. It provides $60,000 for Rio Grande native fish protection and habitat improvements, plus $60,000 for selenium management, research, monitoring, evaluation, and control. Native land wildlife conservation and native water wildlife conservation each receive $1.25 million. The money must support these designated purposes and stays available until fully spent.
