Beginning January 1, 2028, Colorado individual and group health plans must credit eligible prescription drugs you buy directly. Purchases from a pharmacy or direct-to-consumer platform count toward your out-of-pocket maximum or cost-sharing requirement for the purchase year. You must send proof of payment within 90 days, such as an itemized receipt or pharmacy record. The insurer can request more information if your proof is incomplete. Using available drug-cost data, the insurer caps the credit at what you would have paid at an in-network pharmacy. Drugs outside your plan’s covered drug list count only if the insurer grants an exception. You must follow required plan rules, including prior approval and trying other drugs first when required.
