Fewer rules for Pilates and barre schools

Colorado law exempts Pilates and barre teacher-training courses, programs, and schools from the Private Occupational Education Act's rules. It keeps the exemption for guide, trip leader, and guide instructor training offered by licensed river outfitters. The law takes effect at 12:01 a.m. the day after the 90-day period following the legislature's final adjournment. That means August 12, 2026, if the legislature adjourns on May 13, 2026. A referendum petition filed against the law or any part during that period delays its effect. In that case, it takes effect only after approval at the November 2026 general election, on the Governor's official vote-declaration date.
