Donations improve pay for behavioral-health nursing homes

The State Department can receive gifts, grants, and donations to develop and fund a better payment model for nursing homes that serve residents with behavioral health needs. The Executive Director must spend donated money only for this purpose. When the Joint Budget Committee asks, the Executive Director reports how the money was used. Donations do not require General Fund spending. Lawmakers cannot cut existing state funding for this purpose because donations come in.
